Today we accomplished a lot at The Rock! Thank you to everyone that was there. The morning began with Mike Valencia installing the new back door on the foodstand. Special thanks to Kevin Orlop, for donating the door. Mike DeRue was a guardrail disassembling machine! Everyone helped to remove the tall fence on the back stretch. As Vick Whiteside reminded me today - When the club converted the surface from asphalt to dirt, back in 1986 we didn’t have the amazing tools and equipment that we have today. A huge thank you to Andy Vargo for the use of his loader. This saved us so much time and back breaking work. Rob and Kaydon VanDyne, Mark Preston, and Mike Gavin were all on hand tearing down the fence. Jim Howard worked the bulldozer demolishing old posts etc. Mike and Nick Fauci worked as a team disconnecting and relocating the flagstands from the backstretch. Andrea and Dave Farnan delivered some much needed fence that Michael Fauci secured one hell of a deal on in Pennsylvania. Thank you to Rhonda for feeding the troops again today, with her homemade goulash.
I’m proud of the work that has happened thus far. But there is a lot more to be done. Next weekend we’ll be at it again, starting Saturday 11/17 at 10am. Members, Fans, Neighbors – All are welcome. We could use everyone’s help. If you aren’t physically able to work on the renovations you can still help. Our crew has put in two 8 hour days this weekend. A warm meal mid-way through has been a lifesaver. If you can provide food for a lunchbreak that would be a huge help
Please remember to dress for the weather. Boots are recommended the grounds are very muddy. Tools are needed. Hand tools, shovels, rakes, hammers, wood saws, metal saws, welding equipment, portable air compressors, large wrenches, large sockets, any type of tool.
We could still use more of the following:
Guard rail
Scrap steel (Square tubing/round tubing /flat stock etc.) Metal fencing
3/8 inch cable
Fill dirt
PVC conduit any size
URD cable 4/0 and other sizes
UF romex 12/2 14/2
If you have any leads regarding reasonably priced or free materials please call or message Billy Coffey

Thank you again to everyone that helped this weekend to get things started. I look forward to seeing more next week.
