Today was a very productive day. The rain provided challenges, but it was a nice change to not be freezing the whole time that we worked. It began with me installing a new led fixture in the back room of the concession stand. This is a storage room that was really in need of cleaning out. Vicki Powell and Makayla Smith cleared out a bunch of junk in there and organized the rest of the contents – It looks great! Thank you, ladies! They then moved on to cleaning out the 53’ storage trailer. With the help of Ricky Francis and Shawn Freeland the trailer is now clear of a lot of miscellaneous junk. Nick Fauci took loads of the junk to the dumpster with the loader. Thank you to Andy Vargo for letting us use this amazing machine. Thank you Mike Fauci for driving it back to the track again. The trailer is so clear that can now store equipment in it again. This will make it much easier to get the bottom of the tower under control in the coming weeks.
Mike DeRue and Randy Goetz disassembled more guardrail today from the back stretch. Shawn and Ricky took apart the remaining guardrail in the pits. John Kreckman and I removed more speaker and traffic light wiring. Mike Fauci, Mike Valencia and Nick removed Fence Posts. Jake Starr and Randy rolled up fencing. The track provided pizza and wings for the team to refuel and warm up. Mike DeRue brought delicious Peanut Butter Bars, and Irene Fink contributed some tasty brownies. After lunch Irene and Mike Valencia drained and wiped down the fryers. Nick, Mike F., and Jake pulled the infield pump.
Thank you to everyone that helped out today. It was great to see some new faces. We got a lot accomplished.
