On Wednesday morning I had the unique opportunity to watch The Rock be surveyed. Mark DeRue and Bob McGrail of Warren McGrail Surveyors were there plotting the positions needed to guide us into the next phase of our expansion. As a result we have the points marked that show where the race surface will start and end. We now have drawings that show the old race surface versus the new complete with measurements for setting up the radius of the turns properly. We have the measurements of the existing elevations and instructions for the team to utilize when setting up the banking of the new race surface. There are a series of stakes in the ground showing where the guardrail will be. If you look through these pictures, the stakes in the fill pile denote where the guardrail will be in turns 3 and 4. Following this plan our track will be somewhere between an 1/5 and ¼ mile distance. (Almost double our 1/8th mile.)
The club is so fortunate to have such great connections within our membership. If you need land surveyed these guys are the ones to call. They are friendly and knowledgeable. Mark’s business card is the last pic in the album. Thank you Mark, Bob and Warren for your assistance!
