A tremendous amount of work was done this weekend. On Saturday Nick Fauci and Dave Farnan unbolted a bunch of rail in preparation for today. Rob Lovejoy and Shawn cleaned out some more stuff in the garage. Rob VanDyne and I installed overhead shelving in the storage trailer to get items that would not be needed in the near future out of the way. The garage is now ready for when we begin work fabricating the fence posts. It is so clear that we were actually able to park the blue tractor in it today.
This morning Todd from Pavilion Drainage brought the truck over and spent the day with us pounding in the remainder of the posts. We installed the posts along the front stretch by the concession stand and lined the new entrance ramp. The new turns three and four is lined all the way down to the new exit. We put up 33 pieces of guardrail and all of the posts to support it. Chip hopped on the bulldozer and smoothed out the embankment behind the new turns. We are so blessed to have guys like this with the knowledge and the equipment to make this process easier.
There was a great crew on hand slinging guard rail and posts all day including the following: Jake Star, Chip Ayres, Rob VanDyne, Shawn Freeland, Mark Preston, Tony Marianetti, Jerry McAllister, Jay Evans, Nick Fauci, Mike Fauci, Mike Valencia, Mike Gavin and Phil Ellinwood. Special thanks to Mark Kilroy and Danny Knoll II for delivering lunch from Pizza Land, and to Irene Fink for bringing brownies and shooting photos of the day.
We are expecting milder weather this coming week. We have 2 courses of guardrail to put up on the posts that we installed today. If the ground thaws enough, we’ll dig out where we need to put the third row up in turn 2. It will be a great time to come out and checkout the progress and to lend a hand. We have a lot of guardrail to put up and it goes much faster when we have a few crews working on it.
Thank you to everyone that was there this weekend to help out. Take a look at the pics – We have a lot to be proud of as a club.
